Why should I install my stove on a floor protection?
Unless your unit is already sitting on a non-combustible surface, it is mandatory for all wood-burning appliances to have floor protection underneath and around it. You have many choices, such as stone, brick, tile, steel, etc. The purpose of the floor protection is to provide a heat shield, and to protect the floor from embers and ashes that may fall from the appliance.
You should refer to your user manual to find out the specific floor protector size for your stove model.
- CANADA: the floor protection must extend in front of the unit by at least 18 inches (measured from the door opening) and by at least 8 inches on each side.
- USA: the floor protection must extend in front of the unit by at least 16 inches (measured from the door opening) and by at least 8 inches on each side.
